Augmenting his skills in traditional media, he experienced first-hand the effects of social media with the success of AROUND MY FRENCH TABLE by Dorie Greenspan, which has received enormous coverage by food bloggers and an Internet cooking club called “French Friday’s with Dorie.” The book was a major New York Times bestseller.
Cookbooks have become a core specialization for Greg, having spent five years working with Wiley on the Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, and Weight Watchers cookbook brands, and on hundreds of high profile and best-selling cookbooks during his career. Carl Raymond has had a twenty-five year career in book publishing, marketing and PR. He has held marketing management roles at most of the major houses including Random House, Simon and Schuster, HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin and Penguin/DK. His experience includes all aspects of the publishing process from production and design through editorial.
In addition to his marketing roles, Carl held the position of Publishing Director for DK Publishing overseeing the US editorial team and acquiring and publishing an extensive list of illustrated titles. For over 5 years, Carl was Director of Marketing at Judith Regan’s Regan Books imprint directing national marketing campaigns with such high-profile organizations and celebrities as World Wrestling Entertainment, Lauren Hutton, Jane Seymour, Destiny’s Child, Motley Crue, Richard Chamberlain, Janice Dickinson and Alan Cumming.
Carl has an expertise in the diet/popular health category. He was the marketing director for Barry Sear’s New York Times best-selling phenomenon THE ZONE as well as other best-selling diet franchises including Marilu Henner’s TOTAL HEALTH MAKEOVER. He has worked on marketing campaigns for over 50 New York Times bestsellers.
In addition to his publishing career, Carl is a trained chef and a graduate of New York’s Institute of Culinary Education. He has been a contributor, recipe developer and tester for Rodale’s Prevention magazine as well as for Conde Nast. He currently works as a food editor, culinary teacher and marketing consultant.
